Typical Products – Specialties and typical products to taste in Val Nure – TASTE

In these lands excellent DOC wines are produced, including the best known and appreciated Gutturnio, Malvasia di Candia Aromatica and Ortrugo. Typical of this area is the DOC Colli Piacentini Valnure, a wine that combines immediacy and freshness with a good complexity of aromas conferred by the multifaceted blend with which it is traditionally produced (Malvasia di Candia Aromatica, Ortrugo, Trebbiano Romagnolo and other white grape varieties). The Val Nure is rich in De.Co products. (Municipal Designation of Origin) that maintain a very strong link with the local culinary tradition and the territory.

The Tortello with the tail of Vigolzone, elegant braid of thin puff pastry contains a filling based on ricotta and spinach, seasoned with melted butter, sage and plenty of grated parmesan. The tortelli with the tail are the protagonists of the Tortello Festival, which takes place every year in the Municipality of Vigolzone on the third weekend of July.

The Fig Cake of Albarola, a specialty that can only be tasted in Albarola di Vigolzone.

The Bortellina Bettolese, or “Burtleina”, a kind of pancake made with water and flour, is one of the bastions of Piacenza’s cuisine of popular inspiration. It looks like a golden and crunchy “gonfiotto” prepared with flour, water and yeast and cooked in a pan with lard. It can be enjoyed alone, or accompanied by DOP Piacenza cold cuts and soft cheeses. Even today Bettola celebrates the bortellina every year, at the end of August, in a large local fair.

Potato cake by Farini, a delight of peasant cuisine, a recycled dish, born from the need not to waste the potatoes that, having been ruined during the harvest, could not be stored for the autumn. It is excellent enjoyed on its own as soon as it is warm, as an appetizer or as a snack accompanied by Piacenza PDO cured meats. The Potato Pie Festival, which takes place every year in Farini, is the ideal opportunity to enjoy this dish in an authentic atmosphere immersed in the beautiful natural scenery of the Alta Val Nure.
