Dallara Automobili is an Italian manufacturer of racing cars, founded in 1972 in Varano de’ Melegari, in the province of Parma, by engineer Gian Paolo Dallara.
The distinctive skills of Dallara are three:
– design and production,
– using carbon fibre composite materials,
– aerodynamics (wind tunnel and CFD) and
– vehicle dynamics (simulations and testing).
Dallara is now present in all F3 championships, is the sole supplier of cars to the IndyCar, Indy Lights, F2, F3, World Series by Renault, Super Formula and Formula E championships, manufactures cars for training championships (Formulini) and participates in the Grand-Am category.
In recent years, engineering has expanded considerably (today it represents 40% of total turnover), both for racing cars and for high-performance road cars.
Dallara’s continuous investment in cutting-edge technologies has reached its maximum expression in the construction of the first commercially available F1 professional driving simulator (there are 3 worldwide).
In 2012, the company opened an engineering center in Indianapolis, where it manufactures and assembles the IndyCars of the future; In the same building there is an entertainment center, where you can learn how a racing car is born.
In 2018, the Dallara Academy was inaugurated near the company, a multifunctional structure for the exhibition of cars designed and built by the company and with educational workshops for the study of aerodynamics.
