The Consortium for the Protection of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia is an Association of Balsamic Vinegar producers founded in 1986.

Its purpose is to promote the application of the production specification of the PDO Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia.

Protect, promote, enhance and take care of the general interests of the protected designation of origin Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia also through consumer information.

Ensure that, by anyone, the name of Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia, the relative collective marks, the distinctive signs of the PDO, the mark and any other symbol or wording that identifies it are not used improperly, illegally or illegitimately.

Organize events and participate in initiatives that can promote the dissemination of product knowledge.

Achieve and carry out supervision, as a body authorized by the Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies using supervisory agents for this purpose.

The Consortium includes a total of 56 certified producers, some of whom regularly have bottled products and vinegar cellars that can be visited by appointment (marked with V), others who have not yet produced products ready to be bottled or produce it for personal use.

Traditional Balsamic Vinegar of Reggio Emilia PDO is a precious food. Obtained from grapes grown only and specifically in these lands, it is obtained thanks to a long and meticulous processing of the must cooked and aged for at least 12 years. A food of excellence and undoubtedly precious, that is rare and valuable.
