Luzzano

In a panoramic position and surrounded by a park with centuries-old trees, Luzzano belongs to the hamlet of Fornello di Ziano and borders the territory of the province of Pavia.
The village is formed by the Castle, the Church, the Customs, and rural houses dating back to the ‘600.
The structure, which now houses La Dogana, was built in 1747 by the Savoy. Luzzano was an important point of passage of goods between Pavia and Piacenza and here passed the ancient Via del Sale.
In 2018 the Castello di Luzzano company, owned by the Fugazza family, was chosen as the exclusive partner of Leonardo’s Vineyard in Milan.

Here are processed the grapes harvested in Milan for the production of the prestigious Malvasia di Candia Aromatica wine, which has become a symbol of Leonardo da Vinci.
Although the Church of Saints Nabore and Felix has ancient roots, the structure we see today dates back to 1829 when the Opizzoni counts built the new church within a single year, using bricks manufactured in the local furnaces of Rovescala, Creta and Fornello, lime from nearby Calcinara, and sand from the river Po, transported to Luzzano with carts pulled by oxen.
