Pellegrino Parmense is located in a basin on the right bank of one of the branches of the Stirone. Its history has always been linked to that of the Castle, built on top of the hill towards the end of the twelfth century and which for centuries has withstood bloody assaults and was the scene of a mysterious legend.

It is an ultra-millennial history that accompanies the imposing and evocative castle of Pellegrino Parmense. Manor now owned by the Catelli family who, with foresight and taste, preserves its history, prestige and has also promoted significant renovation works.

Famous is the story of the so-called “White Lady“: by some defined as a “fairy”, by others even mistaken for the Virgin Mary. Still others have seen a man with a large white cloak: perhaps the spirit, without peace, of poor Manfredo Pallavicino?

No one has ever been able to give an answer to these phenomena which, however, in the nineteenth century have assumed extreme popularity, to the point of attracting crowds of curious and tourists who came from all over the Parma area, and also from Piacenza, to observe the apparitions.

A fact that, as the documents also recall, gave considerable impetus to tourism and, therefore, to local trade. If for those who lived inside the castle it was not unusual to see this figure wandering between one room and another, it was instead for the “outsiders” who, as highlighted, went to the place in droves when the apparitions of this ghost became public.

A sort of “superstar ghost” capable of recalling three hundred people a day for a long time. As history recalls, the phenomena happened punctually every day, from 18.15 to midnight.

Apparitions that, in the long run, began to annoy the authorities who, in order to appease the confusion, sent a detachment of the Ducal Dragoons to the place: who prohibited any sort of gathering and, in fact, even of the ghost there was no trace left.
