It is the first museum in the world dedicated exclusively to padlocks. The one on display is the Vittorio Cavalli Collection, which in seventy years has collected over 4,000 portable locks of all kinds, ages, materials, sizes and shapes, coming from the four corners of the globe, especially from Europe and Asia.
There are various types: transverse spring padlocks (they are the group that has the greatest variety of shapes, sizes and origins), with barbel spring (more frequent in Asia than in the West, they are among the oldest), toothed drum (massive padlocks with few yields to aesthetics), coil spring (some specimens have such small dimensions as to be real virtuosity of the craftsmen builders), combination (they have a mechanism that does not require the key but is based on the combination of numbers, letters or particular signs), unscrewable secret (they have different shapes, but in common the particular type of secret formed by a removable part that hides the key hole), talismanic (the most common of this type have a horizontal body and the key hole is lateral), zoomorphic (their origins are very ancient, generally have small dimensions and have different types of mechanism), for velocipedes and Love.
Surely a unique place, the Historical Museum of Padlocks is located in the hamlet of Cedogno in the Municipality of Neviano degli Arduini.
