Existing hydraulic works and those under construction. 90 years after the inauguration of the Mignano dam, the Valdarda remains a virtuous example that can be replicated. What is the current state of the other Piacenza valleys? And in an era in which everything seems black or white, right or wrong, how can a project be built without ideologies and dichotomies for the development of territories? These are among the questions that will be answered on Thursday 17 October at 10 am at Palazzo del Podestà in Castellarquato (Piazza del Municipio) during the conference entitled: “Water, communities and territories – The 90 years of the Mignano dam”.

Discussing it will be: Luigi Bisi, president of the Piacenza Land Reclamation Consortium, Marco Trevisan, full professor of Agricultural Chemistry and dean of the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Piacenza campus), Pier Sandro Cocconcelli, full professor of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Microbiology, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences, Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Piacenza campus), Paolo Sckokai full professor of Agricultural, Food and Rural Appraisal Economics and director of the Department of Agri-Food Economics, Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Piacenza campus) and Sara Protasoni, full professor of Landscape Architecture and coordinator of the Master’s Degree Course in Sustainable Architecture and Landscape Design, Politecnico di Milano (Piacenza campus). The round table was moderated by Giovanni Volpi, director of Mio Giornale.net.

The occasion of the conference is the 90th anniversary of the inauguration of the Mignano dam and the event concludes the cycle of three, two of which have already been held between May and October: the first, the day of the celebration of the 90th anniversary of the dam (May 24) together with the students of Cortemaggiore protagonists of an educational project awarded at provincial and regional level focused on the work; the second, on 14 September, with the guided excursion “Discovering the Alta Valdarda and our mountain territory” carried out from the Teruzzi di Morfasso to the source of the Arda.

At the conference on 17 October, free and open to all citizens, there will be interventions in the form of a round table to retrace what are the works present in our territory and those under construction, but above all we will touch on issues related to the economic and social repercussions generated by hydraulic works and we will look to the future by reflecting on what remains in the hands of man and what are the new infrastructures necessary to defend and at the same time distributing water to the agri-food sector.

The event, organized by the Piacenza Reclamation Consortium and the Faculty of Agricultural, Food and Environmental Sciences of the Catholic University of the Sacred Heart (Piacenza campus), is sponsored by the municipality of Castellarquato and carried out in collaboration with the provincial orders of Architects, Landscape Planners and Conservators, Agronomists, Agricultural Experts and Surveyors who will issue Professional Training Credits.
