Amor is a “paste” of two wafers stuffed with cream and chopped hazelnuts, which despite its simplicity, is a specialty of the pastry shops of the Valtarese capital, which thanks to the randomness of history has made it a typical product of the place.
The story begins at the end of the nineteenth century, when groups of Swiss grocers, coming from the beautiful Engadine, emigrated to Italy, bringing with them a wealth of delicious culinary knowledge. It is in this circumstance that one of these emigrants, Maurizio Steckly, took up residence in Borgo Val di Taro and in nearby Pontremoli, in Lunigiana, thus opening two pastry shops.
It was 1920, and the many recipes were so immediately appreciated that they soon became a local pride, including precisely that of the Amor, which at national level is a practically unobtainable product.
