*BOTTEGA XNL
Bottega XNL is the new theatre and cinema project by XNL Piacenza, conceived and directed by Paola Pedrazzini. It is located on the second floor of Palazzo XNL (owned by the Foundation of Piacenza and Vigevano) which becomes the headquarters of the Fare Cinema Foundation (president Marco Bellocchio) and the Institute of Ancient Theatre of Emilia-Romagna which promotes the Veleia Festival.
Bottega XNL is a place where great Masters of Cinema and Theatre pass on their knowledge to young students who wish to make these arts their ‘job’. Inspired by the ancient Renaissance workshops, the meeting between masters and students and learning are realized through advanced training projects Fare Cinema and Fare Teatro which consist in the production of original works (theatrical and cinematographic) presented in national premiere at the Festival di Teatro Antico di Veleia and at the Bobbio Film Festival, activating a virtuous circuit training-production-artistic fruition.
The 2022 edition of Fare Teatro sees Marco Baliani as Master of the Workshop who, together with students and great professionals such as Massimo Foschi, Petra Valentini, Emanuela Dall’Aglio, will create an unprecedented version of Antigone da Sophocles, staged in national premiere at the Veleia Festival on 19, 20 and 21 July.
VELEIA ANCIENT THEATRE FESTIVAL AWARD
VIII edition
The Prize dedicated to the protagonists of the Ancient Theatre Festival of Veleia will be a precious limited edition lithograph by Maestro Gianfranco Asveri, created exclusively for the 2022 edition of the Festival.
Gianfranco Asveri
Counted by Sole 24Ore among the ten emerging Italian painters, he has obtained public and critical acclaim in numerous solo exhibitions in Italy and abroad.
After an initial period in which he expressed himself with a traditional figurative language, starting from the eighties his painting has arrived at a more instinctive and personal gesture, rich in color and matter, close to the expressionism of Art Brut. Representative of a strongly instinctual and emotional pictorial style, Asveri attacks the surface with an overbearing and primitive gesture, which nevertheless allows it to coexist with other less perceptible expressive matrices, memory of artistic images.
With a deep and vital inspiration, Averi’s painting springs from the observation of reality starting from the animals that the artist collects and takes care of and with which he lives on the hills of Piacenza.
AFTER-THEATRE FOOD AND WINE
At the end of each show, the salami factory La Rocca di Castell’Arquato, the Fabrizio Camorali farm and Tollara Vini will offer the public and artists a tasting of wines and cold cuts from Piacenza.
The after-theater food and wine and is part of the cultural tourism project underlying the festival of ancient theater, which includes, among its values, also that of aggregation
