Sunday 26 April 2026 appointment at 09:30 Bedonia, piazza Centinaro
A day to discover the treasures of nature, with cooking class and blackthorn fair.
One of the most beautiful experiences you can have in the Apennines: walking in search of edible wild herbs, in the middle of spring!
Meeting at 9.30 am at Piazza Centinaro in Bedonia and departure on foot. The circular walk will take place in the presence of the guide Emanuele Mazzadi, and the herbalist Chiara Sbernardori, an expert in herbs and natural remedies. We will walk through the woods around the village of Bedonia, along some foaming streams that flow from Monte Pelpi. Here, between a waterfall of the Rio Merlino and a small lake of the Rio di Bozzi, we will see various edible plants, such as wild garlic, lemon balm, nettle, alliara, primrose, violet, vitalba, dandelion, and many others! This is the perfect season to harvest them and to enjoy nature in full awakening after the rest of winter.
The excursion will end directly (about 1.00 pm) at the Taverna “il Cortile”: here Chiara and chef Melina Puntoriero will hold a cooking-class, teaching us how to cook these wonderful herbs. We can then have lunch together while enjoying these little treasures of nature.
After lunch you can participate in the activities of the Blackthorn Fair of Bedonia, to discover these tasty spring mushrooms. Program attached and also available at the following LINK: https://www.fieradelprugnolodibedonia.it/page.php?idtipologia=9&idpagina=35
LIMITED PLACES (maximum 20 people)!
OUR HERBALIST
My name is Chiara and my path has always been traced by the scent of herbs and the desire to understand how to “feel good” in an authentic way. My approach: between Nature, Science and Cooking. After graduating in Herbal Medicine in 2010, I worked for years behind a counter recommending supplements and mixing herbal teas, a role I love, but I felt that a fundamental piece was missing to complete my vision of natural health. In the last two years I have found that piece in Energy Nutrition according to Chinese Medicine. This study taught me that food is not just caloric nourishment, but pure energy capable of rebalancing our body. LINK: https://www.instagram.com/erboristaifornelli/
OUR CHEF
Melina Puntoriero was born and raised in Australia by Calabrian parents: at home, scents and traditions of Southern Italy were daily life. Every meal at Taverna Il Cortile is a pleasant discovery. Mixing a sprinkling of Melina’s Calabrian-Australian influences, a good handful of traditional local cuisine and just enough modern cuisine, the result can only be a pleasant discovery. The restaurant has been in business for 6 years, but it already stands out for its originality and for being that something different. LINK: https://www.tavernailcortile.it/
