We walk together along the ring of Mount Carameto, Saturday 10 December 2022, meeting in the parking lot of via Roma in Sala Baganza at 7.45.

From the Pelizzone pass, take a dirt road well marked by CAI signs. After passing some crossroads following the trail signs you walk through an open area, from which the view opens to the north: you recognize Mount Santa
Franca, Mount Obolo, then the southern slope of the plateau protected by the Provincial Park; in the distance long rows of hills and, at the bottom, the plain.
Once you reach an intersection, leave the “Bore” direction of the Val Ceno ring route on the left, and continue uphill to the right in the thick of the beech forest. From the anticima at an altitude of 1295 you can appreciate the panorama that opens in a southerly direction, towards the
mountains that delimit the high valley of the Ceno, of which you can follow the course for a good stretch. To the right the gaze embraces the Groppo di Gora and the mountain of Lama, from whose slopes the Arda stream originates.

A last effort along the summit pastures leads to the summit of Mount Carameto, from which you can enjoy a wide view: in the foreground Bore, just below the ridge that divides Arda and Ceno; then the stratified walls of the Sassi Bianchi along the Stirone; in the distance the forest of antennas that covers Mount Canate, above Salsomaggiore. To the west Mount Menegosa has become clearly visible, identifiable by the three points that make up the top. You descend on the other side, from which you can immediately see the castle of Bardi on the rocky outcrop dominating the ancient village. Reached a 360 ° panoramic point on the Val Ceno and on the southern side of Mount Carameto, continue downhill to cross the wide flat pastures called “i Lagoni”, among rare cultivated fields, groves, hedges and reforestation of conifers. Cross several barbed wire fences that
prevent the escape of animals left free to graze you reach the chapel of San Giovanni, immersed in a cool grove equipped with benches and a picnic table.

Once you resume the journey, follow the signs uphill that lead back without uncertainty to the paved road near the starting car park.
