In autumn, the woods are tinged with a thousand colors, scents and shades that tantalize our senses, even to the most distracted.
Climbing the Apennines of the Four Provinces, over 1000 meters above sea level, we meet the beech forests: yellow, red and orange, at every step we take an explosion of warm colors, as we walk
on a creaking carpet of golden leaves. Unique sensations to discover hidden corners of these fascinating places.
During the hike you can choose two routes, one of about 8 km and another of about 4 km
THE ROUTES
7 km route
Elevation gain: 320 m
Downhill elevation gain: 320 m
Difficulty: E
From the Tambussi Hotel at 1460 m a.s.l., we take a mule track in a northerly direction and steeply uphill that climbs through the beech forest until we reach the summit meadows of the southern coast of Monte Chiappo. Now we follow a path that reaches the ridge on the side of Capanne di Cosola. We keep to the right and, still on the ridge, we reach the summit of Monte Chiappo at 1701 m a.s.l. On its summit there is the homonymous refuge, which can also be reached by chairlift from Pian Del Poggio; it is also the meeting point of 3 regions, Piedmont, Lombardy and Emilia Romagna. The 360° view from this peak, from the Alps and much of the Po Valley, to the many adjacent valleys, is spectacular; on clear days, the gaze goes as far as the Ligurian Sea and the Apuan Alps.
Continuing on the ridge, the route descends gradually in a north-westerly direction and reaches Monte Prenardo at 1654 m a.s.l. and continues, always downhill, to the Strait of Crenna at 1552 m a.s.l. Proceed in a southerly direction, following a contour line that initially reaches the Capanne di Cosola and, subsequently, the Capannette di Pej.
