The Festival of Salami and Brunelli’s herb cake is back on Sunday 7 May in Borgo Val di Taro

In Borgotaro, in the green hamlet of Brunelli, the “Madonna del salame”, one of the oldest events in the area, and also one of the most loved, which in fact opens the tourist season.

The event, organized by the Parish Committee of Brunelli with the patronage of the Municipality of Borgo Val di Taro, returns after three years of forced stop in the area around the church of Brunelli, and is as always divided into two parts, one in the morning with religious celebrations, and one in the afternoon (from 15) with the real party. The elements are traditional, simple and inevitable: tasting of herb cake and other typical local products, toasts and songs, with musical accompaniment with “Barbera and Champagne” (Fiorello Biacchi, Massimo Armani and Nino Brighetti).

There will also be the competition of cakes and salami, in which everyone (individuals or companies) can participate by bringing their own local salami or their herb cake at 3 pm to the party, where an expert jury of tasters will evaluate and reward the best. The stands of two local companies, the Querzola farm and the Turris Brewery, will also participate in the event, while for the more sporty a Taro Ceno trekking excursion has also been organized with the guide Davide Costa, which will end right at the party for a group snack.

Tradition borgotarese wants you to go to the party directly on foot from the capital, with the considerable advantages of enjoying the landscape, not having thoughts for parking and at the same time disposing of the sumptuous snack.
