The municipal administration of Alta Val Tidone has awarded the well-known virologist Fausto Baldanti, awarding him honorary citizenship. The doctor, originally from Nibbiano and head of the molecular virology unit of the Policlinico San Matteo in Pavia, among the first to have isolated the coronavirus, received the recognition from the mayor Franco Albertini. Honorary citizenship was awarded to him “for his contribution to the progress of science at the service of human life and for his commitment to transmit his knowledge to future generations”.
“For me – said Baldanti – this recognition has a particular meaning because it brings back to my origins that I am here, in my native town, Nibbiano”. Baldanti then urged young people to “believe in dreams and always pursue them”.
