Historical Origins
The white of Scandiano obtained the designation of origin in 1976. Much appreciated by the poet Giosuè Carducci and the scientist Lazzaro Spallanzani, it was already known in the sixteenth century.
To create the conditions for the success of this wine was, at the end of the nineteenth century, the Scandinavian oenological society, which then began to promote it beyond the provincial borders, making it arrive at the Universal Exhibition of Philadelphia in 1876 and that of Paris two years later.
In 1996 the Ministry of Agricultural Resources approved a new production specification for the denomination of controlled origin of the wine of the “Colli di Scandiano e Canossa” (no longer just “Bianco di Scandiano”), which provides for the possibility of producing eleven types of wine, including the Bianco and the Bianco classico.

Dishes and Ingredients
The organoleptic characteristics of the wines are guaranteed by the protection consortium, made up of oenologists, who gives advice on crops, soil analysis and research into innovative production technologies.
The typicality of the wine is ascertained through the tastings of a Commission of the European Union that meets every week at the Chamber of Commerce of Reggio Emilia.
