Emilia is increasingly loved by travelers and hikers looking for a territory to visit slowly, marveling at the natural and cultural beauties, the food and wine products, the offers of experiential outdoor tourism organized and full of services.

At the BIT in Milan, the most important event at national level that aims to show the best offers of the tourist market, on February 13, 2023, Visit Emilia – the Land of the Slow Mix, unique and eclectic, which unites the provinces of Parma, Piacenza and Reggio Emilia – presented the projects for the tourist enhancement of the Emilia of the Great River and the historical paths, which see hundreds of tour operators and municipalities as protagonists in the name of an attractive proposal in line with new tourism trends.

In addition to the project “Once upon a time there was a drop” dedicated to the territories of the Great River, the protagonists were the “Emilian historical paths”, which are part of the 20 paths that cross the entire Emilia Romagna Region: the Via Francigena that touches the heart of the Emilian Apennines between Piacenza and Parma, the Via Matildica del Volto Santo that allows you to relive the atmosphere of the feud of Matilde di Canossa in the Reggio Emilia, the Sentiero dei Ducati between Emilia and Lunigiana, the ancient Via degli Abati, an early medieval itinerary that plunges into the Val Trebbia, the Via di Linari that touches places of great naturalistic importance, such as the UNESCO Biosphere Reserve of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines. These paths are dotted with historical and artistic testimonies, with strong cultural connotations and increasingly rich in services – such as bike rental or backpack transport – in favor of pilgrims and lovers of excursions, who especially on the Via Francigena come from all over the world. There will be a series of educational tours and event walks, called “I love cammini”, itineraries of about half a day that will allow visitors to experience the routes and also raise awareness in the local community about taking care of the environment you cross. In addition, from 18 to 21 May 2023, the new edition of the Francigena Fidenza Festival will turn the spotlight on all aspects related to the Paths. On the website www.camminiemiliaromagna.it you can discover the 20 paths surveyed, with maps and information.
