Inauguration: Thursday, July 14 at 18.00, in the Civic Hall of Palazzo Tardiani in Borgotaro, the
contemporary art exhibition COLLATERAL by Squarcia, architect and artist from New York, strongly
linked to the city of Parma.

“COLLATERAL is an art journey through the collateral damage, short and long term, that results
from war. Migrants, integration, proliferation of weapons, exploitation of land resources,
censorship, torture, suffering, reconstruction, damage to the environment (global warming,
rising sea levels, deforestation, pollution), extinction of animal species, rescue,
diseases, suicides, difficulties in diplomatic and utopian attempts towards peace, indifference.” he says
the artist Umberto Squarcia.

The works of Squarcia are flanked by this historical period with direct stories, without mediation, and
with various techniques -figurative, three-dimensional, installations- that lead to an immediate reflection
on the various issues that afflict the planet. The exhibition is an opportunity to stop and think about
What each of us can do to eliminate its ugliness“. so the curator of the exhibition, Renzo Costella.

“We are happy to have had the opportunity to organize this important exhibition with the Municipality of
Borgotaro and to have made Palazzo Tardiano open to visitors and open to the public. Satisfied to have contributed
to enrich the cultural and tourist offer of these summer weeks of the Alta Valtaro.” states the
President of the Union of Municipalities Francesco Mariani.

“The exhibition is designed to address the ‘collateral damage’ and ‘unknowing’ of a plot.
perverse between wars, destruction of the environment, poverty and instability and combine art and activism,
measuring itself against all current emergencies.

The exhibition is part of a path that, as
administration, we started in the spring with the exhibition of Dina Goldstein, a path aimed at
to bring out the political vocation underlying large regions of art. We therefore thank Umberto
Squarcia for having responded immediately to our call and Renzo Costella, curator of the
exhibition, for having supported every phase of the set-up”. says the Councillor for Culture Martina
Lucky
