Saturday, November 19 at 17 in the Manara Library in Borgotaro will be held the meeting with Massimo Salsi, author of the book “The missing piece: a spy story in the Italian Resistance”.
The book deals with unpublished events that took place in the spring summer of 1944 that had as their epicenter Borgo Val di Taro and Compiano. Their reconstruction develops in several narrative strands retracing on the one hand the events of the autonomous partisan formations of Borgotara and Liguria, on the other those of the charismatic partisan commander Dante Castellucci “Facio” until his tragic death. The historiographical context, completely new, in which an important piece of the Emilia-Ligurian Resistance is rewritten is represented by a large military operation conceived by the Inter-Allied Command of gen. Alexander able, perhaps, to anticipate by several months the expulsion of the Germans from Italy. The book, the result of over ten years of research, clarifies, with the help of documents from the Italian and British military archives, the details of the operation and the dynamics that led to its failure.
Massimo Salsi lives in Parma, his hometown. Raised in a family of former partisans, he engaged in political activity at a very young age. Former official of the Public Administration, now retired, he has always dedicated himself to historical research and writing.
The event is free, for information library Manara 0525-921722.
