Mount Aiona (1701 meters above sea level) is located within the Aveto Park. Its name probably derives from a pre-Latin term of the Ligurian language that means region of the waters, perhaps due to the strong rainfall in the area, which can reach 3000 mm per year.
Starting from the Casermette del Penna Refuge, our circular route will begin towards the three peaks of Mount Aiona (1701 m).
We will walk uphill along the North ridge, from which it will be possible to identify the glacial cirques, evident traces of the last glaciation (würmiana). We will arrive at the 3 peaks of Mount Aiona, where a particular environment awaits us, often described as “lunar”. We will have a packed lunch and close the ring route, returning to the Casermette del Penna Refuge.

Duration: 7 hours (approx.) stops included
Difficulty: Hiking with exposed stretches, necessary absence of vertigo, and ability to progression in a mountain environment.
Suitable for children / teenagers from 12 years of age accustomed to walking in mountain environments.
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
– hiking boots/shoes with sculpted soles
– packed lunch and at least 1 and a half l of water per person, energy snacks.
– trekking poles (recommended)
– layered clothing, windproof and rainproof jacket.
– sunscreen, hat
It is also advisable to keep a complete change of clothing in the car.
PARTICIPATION FEE: € 15 per person, € 10 for accompanied minors.
Minors must be accompanied by an adult responsible by law.
