We will walk the paths of the Taro River Park following the rebellious course of the river between wild banks, clearings and river forests. We will discover the green heart of the Carrega Woods Park among centuries-old oaks, hidden lakes and paths immersed in silence.

An epic challenge for those who want to experience the area as an adventure, breathe the freedom of the great outdoors and write their own hiking feat on the ancient roads of time.

Starting from the Corte di Giarola you will walk along the Via Francigena along the Taro to Fornovo and then reach Segalara via the hilly path where you will stop for lunch. You enter the Boschi di Carrega Park up to Collecchio and close the hiking ring along the river returning to the Corte di Giarola.

Difference in altitude: 630 meters uphill/630 meters downhill. Hiking distance 42.2 km

Level of difficulty: EE Expert hikers (Difficult) Paths Scala Cas T1

Meeting point: Sunday 12 April 2026 at 06.30 a.m. at the Corte di Giarola in Strada Giarola, 11, in the municipality of Collecchio (PR). Departure of the excursion at 07.00 and return scheduled at 19.30.

Required equipment: high-ankle hiking boots with sculpted sole, long trousers, layered clothing, rain jacket, hat, sunglasses, trekking poles for those who usually use them, and a possible change of clothing.
