A series of walks dedicated to the natural and cultural heritage of the Val d’Arda

I Walk: mill and chestnut tree of Vezzolacca, ancient church of Sant’Andrea

28 September 2025 departing from Castelletto di Vernasca
Exploration and enhancement of the centuries-old chestnut tree surveyed, a historic mill and a visit to the Ancient Church of Sant’Andrea.
A circular excursion is proposed starting from Castelletto di Vernasca towards the ancient church of S. Andrea, subject to restoration, the Pietra della Mole, a place where materials for the millstones were quarried (it is possible to see a mass still set in the rock).
At the end of the excursion, participants will have the opportunity to participate in the local Chestnut Festival.

II walk: Veleia Romana and cedar of Lebanon

11 October 2025 departure from Veleia Romana
Short excursion starting from the excavations of Veleia Romana to get to the cedar of Lebanon.
Passeggiata is dedicated to an audience of lovers of history, archaeology, legends and folklore. In addition, it will be very useful for sharing/interacting with visually impaired people.

III walk: the Sforzesca mill and Bosco Verani

18 October 2025 departure from the Sforzesca
Visit to the ancient architectural complex surrounded by the countryside of Castell’Arquato. Founded by the Sforza family of Santa Fiora at the end of the 1400s, it has a large and luxuriant garden inside.
We will visit the Mulino della Sforzesca and Bosco Verani, a rare example of a lowland forest that survived the massive anthropization of the Po Valley.
The excursion will end at the Cascina Gandolfi farm where there will be the opportunity to learn notions on sustainable agriculture as well as the knowledge of some typical products of the area.

IV Walk: Monte Moria Park

October 19, 2025
Excursion to the Monte Moria Provincial Park, which will offer the opportunity to explore splendid specimens of ancient chestnut trees and a majestic beech forest.
