A day to remember a particular figure in the millenary history of Castell’Arquato:
Paul III: the Pope of good drinking
Sunday 24 May 2026 in the medieval village of Castell’Arquato
Pope Paul III, born Alessandro Farnese, in the spring of 1536 visited Castell’Arquato and left his cape now kept in the Collegiate Museum as a gift to the community. The Pope, an expert drinker, wrote a volume on Italian wines where he indicated the wines of Castell’Arquato as those he liked most of all.
A themed procession will parade on the monumental square, while activities are also planned for families and children by local associations.
