Trekking among fairy tales and ancient crafts in the Park of the Hundred Lakes

Sunday 17 May 2026In the enchanted beech forests of the Hundred Lakes Regional Park we will walk along the ancient paths of the charcoal burners to reach two of the countless bodies of fresh water that characterize this mountain area.

Here the evident traces of the last glaciation will make us walk on moraines and screes smoothed by time and then resume the forest and find at the bottom of a now extinct lake some fossil trunks of native silver fir, almost completely disappeared in this part of the Apennines.

We will spot baby dragons and centuries-old trees in fairytale plains surrounded by crystal clear streams. A quiet return route will allow us to cross different landscapes between incredible blooms and mystical ruins marked by time to find even in the most remote woods traces of the ancient life of the men of the woods, the charcoal burners.
