The methods of investigations for the different animal groups, the census techniques, the use of camera traps, etc., will be explained, and bibliographic information will be given to deepen special issues related to animal behavior with the collaboration of some members of the SPSN such as Chiara Alessandrini, Simone Rotelli, Franco Aceto, Maurizio Finozzi.

The naturalistic monitoring activity based on the exploration of areas of the Reserve will show the devices set up for wildlife control activities. The excursion proposal is organized to train participants in observation, in the retrieval of images suitable for cataloguing the natural heritage of biodiversity to encourage individual learning and contribute to the development of citizen science by involving citizens and supporting them with experts in various taxa. The narrative of the behavioral aspects of the species will be enhanced to train people in competent ethological observation.

Morning: Field Scouting

Afternoon: Training session to learn how to gather useful naturalistic information

Total differences in height: the path covered may involve a total difference in height of 300 meters.

Degree of difficulty: easy – transfers and stops based on the identified observation stations.

Meeting point: Saturday 09 May 2026 at 08.00 a.m. at the Visitor Center in Predelle di Porcigatone, Borgo Val di Taro (PR). End of activity: 4.00 pm.

Equipment required: binoculars, lens, notepad, mobile phone for taking pictures and insect repellent

Participation fee: € 7 per person for delivery of photocopies and educational material for identification keys. Members of the Parma society of natural sciences SPSN will have the material free of charge.
