Mount Carevolo, with its 1550 meters of altitude, acts as a watershed between the Aveto and Nure Valleys.
The town’s name derives from the pre-Latin word “Kar”, which means rock, mountain.
There are several itineraries that allow you to reach the summit, we have chosen to start from Gambaro where, once back from the excursion, the owners Clara and Valentino will be waiting for us to guide us in the visit of the Castle.
Clara, with her great competence, will allow us to take a journey back in time, between the history of the Malaspina family and the fortress, initially built in the underlying hamlet Edifizi.
We will discover some legends and the history of ironworking.

Suitable for children / teenagers from 12 years of age accustomed to walking in mountain environments.
MANDATORY EQUIPMENT
– hiking boots/shoes with sculpted soles
– packed lunch and at least 1 and a half l of water per person, energy snacks.
– trekking poles (recommended)
– layered clothing, windproof and rainproof jacket.
– sunscreen, hat
– Spare shoes for the visit to the castle.
It is also advisable to keep a complete change of clothing in the car.
PARTICIPATION FEE: € 15 per person, € 10 for accompanied minors.
Participation fee for the guided tour of the Castle (1 hour): 5 Euro
Minors must be accompanied by an adult responsible by law.
