The last event of the “Ideas of Prose” season at the Bismantova Theater in Castelnovo will be Thursday, March 30 at 9 p.m. Exceptional protagonist on the Bismantova stage will be Gianmarco Tognazzi, in the show L’onesto fantasma, together with Renato Marchetti, Fausto Sciarappa and with the video participation of Bruno Armando. The dramaturgy and direction are by Edoardo Erba.
The play is about four actors who, years earlier during a tour, became great friends, but are reunited as three because one of them dies tragically. Of the three, Gallo has since made a rapid career and is now a successful film personality. The other two, Costa and Tito, are desperate for work and try to convince him to stage a Hamlet. But Gallo refuses: without his friend – whom he loved dearly – he has no intention of doing theater anymore. To overcome his resistance, Costa makes up that his missing friend will be in the production, complete with his name on the poster: they will reserve the part of the ghost for him. Gallo gives no weight to the proposal, taking it as a joke of dubious fairness, until one night the ghost actually appears to him. And he is a ghost who seems to want revenge on his friends, who find themselves forced to confess to each other’s betrayals. But which finally reveals itself to be the essence of the feeling that binds them and will bind them for life. Alternating between realistic moments and Shakespearean scenes, the play is an orignal way of rereading Hamlet from the point of view of the ghost. But above all, it is the story of a special friendship so strong that it evades even death. And an act of love toward theater, where every conflict becomes acceptable because it is redeemed by poetry.
Gianmarco Tognazzi, for the second time at the Bismantova Theater, needs no introduction: a child of art, he began his acting career at a very young age with directors of the caliber of Salce, Monicelli, Festa Campanile then Vanzina, up to the film “Quando” by Valter Veltroni coming out on March 30 of this year.
