In October 2026, Fungàlia – Mushrooms in the Municipality returns, a project dedicated to woods, nature, tradition and community, with several appointments to get to know the fungal biodiversity of Alta Valtaro up close, accompanied by mycologists and experts in the area.
It starts on Sunday 4 October at 9 am with “In search of porcini mushrooms (and not only)”, an excursion in the woods of Albareto to discover the mushrooms of the Comunalia, accompanied by the AUSL mycologist Cinzia De Luca and the Environmental Hiking Guide Roberto Bardini. The excursion is subject to a fee, with a meeting point in Borgo Val di Taro; more information will be provided after booking.
The program continues on Saturday 10 October at 9.30 am with a free mycotrekking in the woods of Gorro, with meeting at the Church of Gorro (Borgo Val di Taro). Accompanying the participants will be mycologists and mycologists from the USL and the Fidentina Mycological Association “Carlo Oriani”, together with the Environmental Hiking Guide Roberto Bardini.
Also on Saturday 10 October, at 5.30 pm, appointment at the ACLI San Michele di Belforte Club, in Borgo Val di Taro, with “The mushrooms of the Comunalia are told in the kitchen”. Chef Stefano Numanti, former patron of the Castello di Varano de’ Melegari restaurant, will illustrate some recipes dedicated to fungal species considered “minor”. Participation is free and, at the end of the meeting, it will be possible to stop for an aperitif with friends at a cost of 10 euros.
