Saturday, November 27 at 11.30 am will start the guided tour of the abbey Badia Cavana.
The visit takes place on the rolling hills of Badia Cavana, a splendid example of Romanesque architecture and sculpture, located along the Via del Sale, once traveled by pilgrims, merchants and artisans who found spiritual comfort and hospitality in the Benedictine monastery.
The construction of a Vallombrosan monastery in that position was a strategic choice from both a religious and political point of view. From there, in fact, the valley of the Parma stream widens and the last offshoots of the Apennines dominate the plain, while the Salt Road begins to climb the bumps that pilgrims climbed up to the Passo del Lagastrello, then descend to the Abbey of Linari and the sea of Luni and continue towards Rome.
A fabulous tour that will immerse you in the medieval world that gave rise to the gastronomic excellence of the Parma area.
