To celebrate the 25th anniversary, together with the whole community that has gathered, and significantly increased over time, Ermo Colle offers a series of events and meetings even outside the usual appointment with the summer Palio. To be together, audience, actors, musicians, dancers, poets, to continue to reflect, to fill oneself with beauty, in the same space, in the same breath.
For twenty years, through an event that gathers every summer at the foot and in the lap of the Parma Apennines, the ErmoColle Cultural Association has been bringing theater, poetry, music and dance to sites of historical and naturalistic interest generally not designated to host them. These new open-air theatres, sometimes hidden, inaccessible or to be rediscovered, become temporary places where the arts collide but above all meet, talk about themselves and speak to others. They become refuges and stops at a crossroads of artists, pilgrims and artisans who, as in other times, retrace the roads that were once Francigena and Del Sale.
The ErmoColle musical and theatrical poetic palio is a real challenge between theater companies, beginners and not, from all over Italy. Each of the finalist companies is assigned a place to live, to which to dedicate and adapt their artistic work to generate an event of a poetic nature – a term that is understood not only in the literal or literary sense, but in its meaning of poetic action.
Supporting the project and animating the competition is the belief that the theater can enhance the territory, that the territory, in turn, can nourish the theater and that together they can generate a polymorphous, unusual but also harmonious dialogue, capable of reaching places and people.
At the end of the event, two prizes of equal magnitude are awarded. The first collects the approval of the public who express themselves through a vote. The second is awarded by a jury of experts, including actors, directors, journalists, musicians and art critics, who follow the entire course of the Palio by attending each performance.
With ErmoColle, the theater leaves its home and reaches other places. As an unexpected guest, it populates the hills and courts, castles and museums. The itinerary, which is renewed from edition to edition, crosses public parks and arrives at private courtyards; It includes from the most renowned scenarios to the lesser-known and most difficult to reach. These places become the unusual settings for the artistic productions in competition.
