In August, the town of Bobbio hosts the highly anticipated Film Festival, which includes film screenings and debates in the presence of actors, directors, critics and film producers.
Bobbio Film Festival

The initiative began back in 1995 thanks to an idea by director Marco Bellocchio, a native of the Emilian village and awarded, in 2021, the Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement during the 74th Cannes Film Festival.
The festival, which includes film screenings open to the public, is flanked by the “Fare Cinema” courses aimed at young and future filmmakers, critics and screenwriters.
The valuable element of this important film festival lies in the after-screening, when Maestro Bellocchio, sometimes together with a film critic, meets the director and the actors of the film in a participatory dialogue with the audience.
Having grown more and more in importance, since 2005 the event has changed its name and officially becomes the Bobbio Film Festival.
In such a long period of time, numerous actors and directors have taken part in the Bobbio festival to present their film, or debate some of the themes touched on by the various films: from the director of the Venice Film Festival Marco Müller to the critics Morando Morandini and Tatti Sanguineti; from directors Mario Monicelli, Abel Ferrara, Zhang Yuan, to Carlo Verdone, Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone. Among the actors stand out the names of Stefania Sandrelli, Valeria Golino, Sergio Castellitto, Isabella Ferrari, Donatella Finocchiaro, Corrado Guzzanti, Elio Germano and Riccardo Scamarcio.
