Free workshop for children
“How big would you like to be?” he asked, “a little bigger gentleman if you don’t mind, seven inches is such a torment of stature…”
… The Caterpillar began to descend down from the fungus and, as it crawled away on the grass, threw there “one side will make you taller, the other side smaller”.
“One side of what? The other of what?” thought Alice to herself.
“Of the mushroom,” said the Caterpillar … and the next moment he had already disappeared from sight.”
This brief dialogue concludes the meeting between the Brucaliff and Alice in Lewis Carrol’s famous book “Alice in Wonderland”. Starting from this short episode of the book, freely reinterpreted with a small shadow theater, boys and girls can leave Alice and the Brucaliffo for an exciting journey into one of the 5 kingdoms of nature, the most secret and mysterious: the kingdom of Mushrooms.
What are mushrooms? How are they made? How do they reproduce? What properties do they have?
After a brief visit to the showcases of the mycological exhibition, present in the Museum of Woods and Territory, we will try to answer these questions with the observation of real mushrooms and small scientific experiments.
This workshop is held on the occasion of the National Day F@Mu-Families at the Museum.
The initiative takes place on Sunday 08 October 2023 from 15.30 to 17.00 at the Casinetto and is dedicated to children aged 6 to 10 years (maximum 20 participants). In case of bad weather it will be held inside the park center.
