Sunday, December 4, organized by the Municipality of Morfasso and the Provincial Committee of the ANPI of Piacenza together with the Museum of the Resistance of Piacenza, will take place the annual commemoration of the massacres of the Guselli pass and Rocchetta di Morfasso where, respectively on December 4, 1944 and January 7, 1945, more than 50 partisans and civilians lost their lives, including a child of only 6 years.
In the winter of 1944-’45, while trying to cope with the fierce winter raid of the German-Mongolian Turkestan military division flanked by units of the black brigades of the RSI, fifty partisan fighters and some civilians lost their lives in the municipality of Morfasso alone, almost all during the two ambushes they suffered at Passo dei Guselli and at the hamlet of Rocchetta.
We will then pay tribute to the memory of those fallen with a demonstration that will begin at 9.30 am at Passo dei Guselli and will continue later in Rocchetta.
During the event, chaired by the coordinator Anpo of the Val d’Arda, Delio Gurnieri, the Mayor of Morfasso Paolo Calestani, other administrators of the neighboring municipalities and Andrea Losi (President of the Museum of the Piacenza Resistance), who will hold the civil oration, will take the floor.
After paying homage to the tombstone of Rocchetta di Morfasso, at 11 am at the restaurant Piè dei monti di Rabbini di Monastero, the figure of the partisan commander Italo Croci “Dante” will be remembered by Alessandro Pigazzini (Museo della Resistenza Piacentina).
