Where it is

Direction south towards La Spezia, in the Parma Apennines, Terenzo is easy to reach via the A15 motorway, Fornovo di Taro exit.

Why visit it

At the feet of Mount Croce lies this lovely medieval village, once a strategic junction of streets due to its location along the Romea way, followed by pilgrims to cross the border with Tuscany in order to reach Rome.

Terenzo is now outside of the crowded traffic, yet it remains in a strategic position and close to the most important villages of the Apennines such as Calestano and Fornovo di Taro.

Set in the heart of the village is the Church of Santo Stefano.

In the surroundings

At a short distance from the village there is Bardone, where there is the beautiful Parish church of Santa Maria.

About 5km from the village, there is the typical medieval town of Cassio, along the Francigena Way and, as such, makes an interesting stop. The 15th C frescoes depicting Saint John the Baptist and Saint Benedict in the dell’Assunta Church are noteworthy.
A short distance from Cassio are the “Salti del Diavolo”, rocky needles and indented crests extending over 5 kilometres.

A little further away at about 9 Km there is Fornovo di Taro, with the Parish church of Santa Maria Assunta, and at 8 Km there is the village of Calestano.
