Saturday 1 August 2026 at 10.30 a.m. at the church of Sant’Antonino in Borgo Val di Taro (morning session)- 3 p.m. at the Belforte cemetery (afternoon session)
Free activity! sponsored by Ascom for Taro and Ceno passport
Reservations are required by: July 30th
The day of the visit will be divided into two sessions. The morning will be dedicated to the history of the underground of Borgotaro (lasting about an hour): we will explore underground environments in the heart of the historic center to rediscover their use, functions and hidden secrets.
The afternoon (about two and a half hours) will instead be aimed at the rediscovery of the Roncostiva group, near Belforte. It is an exceptional archaeological site, characterized by evident terraced surfaces that housed an ancient Ligurian settlement of the Iron Age.
The excursion, short and easy, will wind through a suggestive “lunar” landscape among large outcrops of ophiolites. We will walk along an ancient road that still retains the signs of popular devotion, like a small and graceful marble Majesty set in a large rock.
