Discover the unexpected scents of forgotten herbs and fruits rooted for centuries.
In the historic garden of the Castle of Scipione grow ancient medicinal plants and rare botanical species that tell the deep link between nature and medieval tradition. Among the scents of wild mint, a majestic centuries-old azzeruolo — one of the oldest in the region — dominates the landscape with its spectacular spring blooms and the characteristic small red fruits, once highly appreciated on Renaissance tables. Lush caper plants also thrive on the walls of the Castle, known since ancient times for their beneficial and medicinal properties, which in summer offer evocative fragrant blooms.
From 1 March to 31 December on the opening days of the castle
