An international project that reaches the heart of the territory
Imagine walking in a park, surrounded by greenery, when you suddenly meet looks that observe you. Intense, authentic faces, different from each other, but incredibly similar in their humanity. This is precisely the experience that awaits you at Parco Nevicati, where the photographic exhibition “Human Race” will kick off on Sunday, May 3, 2026, a project signed by Oliviero Toscani and his creative studio.
This exhibition is not a simple collection of photographs, but a visual journey that crosses identities, cultures and personal histories. The project has already touched numerous cities around the world, building an impressive archive of over 100,000 portraits collected over years of work. Now it arrives in a new guise, surrounded by nature, ready to dialogue with the local public in a direct and engaging way.
The exhibition invites you not to be just a spectator: you are an integral part of the work. Images do not simply tell stories, but invite you to recognize yourself in others, to reflect on who we are and what really unites us. The heart of “Human Race” lies precisely in its ability to break down barriers. It doesn’t matter where you come from or who you are: every face has the same value. It is like a collective mirror in which everyone can find a fragment of themselves.
The project was born as a visual and anthropological investigation of human diversity. It is not only art, but also social research. Toscani and his team have traveled the world setting up temporary photographic sets in squares, streets and everyday contexts, collecting real faces, without filters.
Oliviero Toscani, a master of visual communication
Talking about the “Human Race” inevitably means talking about Oliviero Toscani, one of the most influential photographers internationally. Known for his provocative and innovative campaigns, Toscani has revolutionized the way of communicating through images. His direct and often controversial style has always had a precise goal: to stimulate debate. He has never limited himself to creating beautiful images, but has always tried to create images that make you think. Even after his death, the project lives on thanks to the work of his studio and his collaborators. “Human Race” is not just a photographic archive, but a cultural heritage that continues to grow and evolve.
Behind every shot is a question: what does it mean to be human today? The answer is not unique, but emerges from the plurality of faces. Toscani himself said that the goal was “to photograph the soul of people”, going beyond aesthetics to capture the essence.
The inauguration: Sunday 3 May at 11 am with a presentation open to all
The photo set with Rocco Toscani
One of the most engaging elements will be the photo set led by Rocco Toscani. Here anyone can be portrayed and become part of the “Human Race” archive.
