The Oratory of the Madonna delle Grazie in Vigoleno hosts a new art and photography exhibition with The disasters of war: from Goya to the present day
From Sunday 3 May to Sunday 27 September 2026
Oratory of the Madonna delle Grazie, Vigoleno – Vernasca
Francisco Goya’s engravings, made during the Spanish War of Independence at the beginning of the nineteenth century, merge with the dramatic photos of contemporary war reporters Andreja Restek, Ugo Lucio Borga, Giorgio Bianchi and Gabriele Micalizzi, to tell and denounce the absurdities of the armed conflicts of yesterday as well as today. Two different artistic techniques, two languages and two very distant historical contexts, which share the same ethical responsibility: to tell and bear witness to war so as not to normalize it.
Official opening: Sunday 03 May, 11 am.
The exhibition also continues on the site of the Auditorium of the Ursuline Palace in Fidenza (PR). The ticket for both venues is unique.
The exhibition can be visited on Saturday and Sunday at the same time as the opening hours of the ticket office of the Keep of the castle of Vigoleno (10.30-12.30 and 14.30-17.30).
