The initiative, now in its twenty-eighth edition, is promoted by the Emilia-Romagna Region, Department of Agriculture, Agri-food, Hunting and Fishing and represents an opportunity to bring the agricultural world closer to the city, making known the agri-food productions of our territory, rich in tradition and culture.
It is always advisable to book the visit, especially if you intend to participate in initiatives aimed at small numbers of visitors.

Farms of the Reggio Emilia Apennines that have joined:

Farmhouse Rio delle Castagne
The farm is located in Viano, San Giovanni di Querciola (RE)
Organic farm and agritourism located on the hills of Reggio Emilia with riding school, camping, educational and social farm. There are horses, ponies, donkeys, mules, goats, sheep, cows, pigs, dogs, cats, turtles, rabbits, farmyard animals, bees on the farm. Production of fruit and vegetables for processing into jams, compotes, fruit juices, sauces. Honey.

Activities:
During all Sundays in May activities and workshops will be organized and you can visit the farm and get to know the animals. The detailed program will be published on the facebook page and it will be possible to receive it by contacting the contact person via wathsapp, as soon as possible.

Azienda agricola L’Orto che non c’è, by Alessandro Lo Porto
It is an organic farm located in Carpineti (RE). It grows seasonal vegetables, small fruits such as raspberries, blackberries and sea buckthorn, potatoes, ancient apples and quinces, edible flowers and aromatic herbs. In the garden there is a chicken coop and an orchard of ancient varieties.
Opening days: 3 and 10 May from 15:00 to 19:00
Activities: visit to the vegetable garden, workshops, self-harvesting of vegetables, tasting and sale of processed products.
It will be possible to place orders in the previous days to collect the products of the garden directly, or take on the role of the farmer for a day and experience guided self-harvesting in the field.
On May 3rd “Creative Bugs Hotel”, to create insect houses with recovered materials and help us complete the Bugs Hotel of the garden provided by the LIFE BEE ADAPT project of the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, which aims to protect wild pollinating insects from the effects of climate change.
On May 10, “BioBlitz”, a participatory science workshop to discover the biodiversity of the garden, led by Samuele Pignedoli, a researcher at the University of Siena, to learn how to observe and identify flowers and insects with the naked eye under a microscope.
The garden will be equipped with accessible spaces and bathrooms.
To participate in the workshops, reservations are recommended by e-mail or Whatsapp. Details and updates will be published on the website and the Instagram page.
It is advisable to wear comfortable shoes that can get dirty and to bring your own gloves for the self-collection activity.

La Borgaccia farm
Located in Ca d’Orio, hamlet of Baiso (RE)
The farm is fruit and vegetable oriented and combines primary production with the direct transformation of part of the raw materials grown. The wheat is ground and made into flour, while dandelion is processed for the production of molasses. Vegetables, including artichokes, courgettes, tomatoes, pumpkins and persimmons, are also used to make preserves and products in oil. The fruit, strawberries, cherries, apples, pears, marusticani, apricots and figs, is transformed into jams and juices. The cultivation also includes lavender and aromatic herbs, used for the production of oleolites, scented bags, herbal teas and flavored salts. Hazelnuts and walnuts are intended both for fresh consumption and for the preparation of digestive liqueurs. The activity is completed by the breeding of hens and muscovy ducks for the production of eggs, part of an integrated agricultural system that enhances production diversification and business transformation.

Activities: during the opening days practical activities related to the life of the vegetable garden and the care of the agricultural environment will be offered. Visitors will be able to participate in sowing moments and the planting of flowers useful for the vegetable garden and bees, such as calendula and marigold, with explanations on their role in the natural defense of crops and in supporting pollinating insects.
It will also be possible to attend or take part in the collection of eggs, to understand how the animals are managed and the production cycle.
Alongside agricultural activities, there are creative workshops, designed to involve children and families in the creation of small artifacts inspired by the rural world, such as the construction of scarecrows or other manual activities related to nature.

Farm House La Collina dei Cavalli
Located in Loc. Colonne di Vedriano – Le Colonne, frazione di Canossa(RE)
Farmhouse with educational farm immersed in a natural setting, equipped with spaces dedicated to hospitality and educational activities. On the farm there are horses, donkeys, cows, sheep, goats, rabbits, chickens and geese, which are an integral part of the educational paths and experiences offered to guests.
The property has tree houses set in the woods, a children’s play area and relaxation areas with hammocks. The activity includes catering service and the possibility of overnight stays. Walks and excursions are also organized in the territory of Val Tassobbio, with the aim of enhancing the surrounding environment and encouraging an experience in contact with nature.

Activities: during the opening days, activities will be offered aimed at making the rural environment and the surrounding area known through direct and guided experiences. Visitors will be able to participate in walks with the animals, with short paths on the back of the donkey accompanied by the company staff, to live a slow experience that respects the natural context.
There are also activities to get closer to the farm animals, with moments dedicated to learning about their characteristics, habits and the role they play within the company.
The day may include nature trails in the Tassobbio Valley, aimed at discovering the landscape, flora and environmental peculiarities of the area. The farmhouse will offer rest and catering spaces, favoring an overall experience based on contact with nature, the educational dimension and relaxation.

From 9:00 am Opening of the “Giardino Frutteto del Savurett”, in Via Monte Valestra, 44 in Valestra di Carpineti, to discover the spring blooms.
12:00 p.m. “Picnic in the Orchard Garden”. Tasting Box, with farm and local products.
Direct sale of company products.
In case of rain, only the scheduled activities will take place at the shop-teaching room in via Monte Valestra, 118 in the historic center of Valestra di Carpineti.
