Saturday 14 March at 11.15 am at the Cinema Teatro Comunale di Felino.

“Survive to testify” is the public meeting with Giuseppe Costanza organized with the municipal patronage of the Anpi section of Felino and the meeting will be moderated by Elisa Leoni of the Board of Directors. Costanza was the driver of judge Giovanni Falcone from 1984 until the day of the massacre in Capaci, just outside Palermo, on May 23, 1992, when Giovanni Falcone, his wife Francesca Morvillo and the three men of the escort lost their lives: Antonio Montinaro, Rocco Di Cillo and Vito Schifani. A very heavy toll, to which were added 23 injured. Among them Costanza, the only survivor inside the car driven by the judge, due to a series of fortuitous circumstances. Today the former driver and trusted man of the magistrate has created the Giuseppe Costanza Foundation: he travels around Italy to bring his testimony especially in schools and in the meeting places of the new generations, committed to promoting the fight against mafias and educating to legality, because silence is in itself mafia. His story traces the years of service alongside the magistrate and the dramatic moments that preceded and followed the massacre. His experience, collected in the book “State of abandonment” by Riccardo Tessarini, in fact also traces the human and professional path marked by the difficult weight of survival.
