On Christmas Eve, the village of Rivalta will be transformed into a small Bethlehem, offering visitors a unique and engaging experience.

The village will welcome everyone with evocative Christmas atmospheres, including extras, traditions and lots of warmth. Mulled wine, hot tea, a miraculous herbal tea from the herbalist and Palestinian bread prepared by skilled bakers will offer an unmissable opportunity to immerse yourself in the most magical atmosphere of the year.

A journey into the past

The medieval village of Rivalta, with its extraordinary beauty, becomes the ideal stage for the Living Nativity Scene. An event that has its roots in 1991, when Don Sandro Civardi, together with the parishioners and Count Orazio Zanardi Landi, conceived this historical re-enactment. Even today, the Living Nativity Scene is an unmissable event that involves over 100 participants, representing ancient crafts and significant moments of the Nativity.

A living Bethlehem

The village will be populated by characters from the trades of the past, such as carpenters, blacksmiths, potters, weavers, spinners, and King Herod’s concubines, all illuminated by the torches and torches that warm the alleys. An experience that will make you feel part of history.

Program

  • 10.20 pm: entry into the village of the figures with ancient crafts and shepherds.
  • 10.30 p.m.: procession of the High Priest.
  • 10.45 pm: exit from the castle of King Herod’s procession.
  • 11.10 p.m.: the Censor goes to the census site.
  • 23.10: The Three Wise Men meet the astrologer.
  • 11.30 pm: arrival of Mary and Joseph with the donkey.
  • 11.50 pm: everyone heads towards the Church for Holy Mass.
  • At the end of the Mass, visit to the hut to pay homage to the Child Jesus.

Visits to the Castle of Rivalta

During the day of December 24 it will be possible to visit the Castle of Rivalta. Guided tours are by reservation.

Admission is by free donation and the event will be held even in case of bad weather.
