At the start in Borgo val di Taro the project “Un Borgo di Storie”, conceived by the Manara Library with the support of the Municipal Administration and realized with the contribution of the Cariparma Foundation.

The rich program of activities aims to spread the pleasure and curiosity towards books and reading, familiarity with the object and the services associated with it, primarily those related to the library.
“At this stage – said the president of the Manara Institute Ugo Vietti– library services aimed at children, parents, young people and schools are of fundamental importance in order to allow access to knowledge, to the plurality of cultures and information, linguistic, informative and digital literacy as well as lifelong learning.”

Giving the opportunity to know and use the services of the library allows them to acquire numerous linguistic, civic, cultural, IT and problem solving skills necessary to orient themselves in society.
The central objective of all activities is also to promote the idea that the book is a vehicle of emotions, of playful and intellectual pleasure and of comparison with reality, real or imagined.

Numerous actions will start in Borgotaro from July to October, starting with the Mobile Library: a sort of small itinerant library that will bring loan and membership services to unusual places, such as the market on Mondays in July and August, but also to the park and swimming pool.

After two years of stop, the “Reading under the arcades” also returns in force, a new space equipped under the arcades of Palazzo Manara where you can consult newspapers, reading corner and children’s space for free, with new installations and a chessboard available during the opening hours of the library.

Dedicated to the great Gianni Rodari then the evening of August 10 with “the grammar of the Maestro”, with the stories interpreted by the actor and storyteller Marco Bertarini, in Piazza La Quara at 21.

In the warm summer evenings there will be the first edition of TaroNoir, a festival of crime fiction (conceived by the writer Riccardo Landini) which, on the evenings of 13,16 and 18 August, will bring to Borgotaro important authors such as Marina Visentin, Gianluca Veltri and many others.

On the occasion of the Borgotaro Mushroom Fair, then, on September 17th it will return to Borgotaro La Sajetta with “Books with wheels“, while on October 14 in the Manara library the librarian Valentina Tosi will hold a dissemination meeting on the theme “How to read an ebook” and in general on the possibilities of the digital library.

To close the review a great event Sunday, October 16 at 17 at the auditorium Mosconi with “Women’s Singles : portraits of women who have made history” by the writer Sara Rattaro with guests the writers Anna di Cagno, Antonella Grandicelli and Lucia Tilde Igrosso and the readings of Lucia Caponetto.

“Cultural participation can certainly be considered an act that promotes collective well-being, a welfare action – says the Councilor for Culture Martina Fortunati – The initiatives to promote the reading of the project “A village of stories” look in this direction and in this direction looks at the municipal administration. Promoting reading as a widespread social habit, bringing non-readers closer to reading, making children listen to stories who do not yet know how to read means recognizing the act of reading as an essential moment for the overall development of the child and the adult. We are grateful to the Manara Library and the Cariparma Foundation for making an essential contribution to achieving this goal.”
