The Festival dell’Appennino Reggiano reaches its 41st edition, returning after 15 years of absence.

The Festival Appennino Reggiano has a long tradition and has represented, for forty years, one of the most important cultural events in the area. Its first edition dates back to 1969, then stopped in 2008.

The rich choral singing festival will be held on Sunday 9 July, starting at 9.30 am, with the arrival of the choirs in Toano, followed by the official greetings of the municipal administration at the council chamber. At 11 am, in the evocative setting of the Pieve di Toano, there will be a mass sung by the same choirs participating in the festival.

In the afternoon, at 4 pm, the choral festival will start at the church of Toano. The event will be presented by Rachele Grassi and will see the participation of local choirs, including the choir Le maestà, directed by Paolo Tavars, the choir Vocilassú, directed by Armando Saielli and the choir Matildico Val Dolo, directed by Claudio Beltrame, along with guest choirs such as the choir Montenero di Ponte Dell’Olio (Piacenza), directed by Mario Azzali and the choir Montecastello di Parma, directed by Giacomo Monica.

Admission will be free for everyone while, throughout the day, the streets of the town will be home to an extraordinary market.

The event has the patronage of the municipality of Toano, the Province of Reggio Emilia and
of the Unione Montana Comuni Appennino reggiano.

The 41st Festival dell’Appennino Reggiano represents an important opportunity to appreciate and enhance the musical and cultural heritage of the mountains, through the voices and harmonies of the participating choirs.
