Walking through the streets of the center accompanied by the flights of swifts.

A relaxing approach to nature that lives with us in our homes, to raise awareness of the importance of the conservation of swifts: the observation of specimens in flight in the city centers and in the heart of the villages, combining the harmony of flight with the beauty of villages and monuments!

Swifts spend most of their time in the air, hunting, mating, and sometimes even… sleep. The beating of wings is very fast, so they are skilled in swoops and turns and the flight is spectacular and acrobatic. They are long-distance migratory, spend most of the year in Africa and return to Europe only a few months to breed. They are observed above all in cities and towns, because they prefer historic centers rich in cavities; They can nest in the pontaie holes, under the tiles, even in the boxes of the roller shutters and unfortunately they are often “evicted” from the nests due to renovation works that are not very sensitive to their needs.

But now we can do something positive, because for some years good building practices have been tested to be able to live peacefully with these flying “insecticides”. Let’s not forget that a swift eats thousands of mosquitoes and flies during a breeding season and contributes “for free” to improve our quality of life!

Evening walk in the center and in the streets of the town, in the company of Renato Carini, expert in the Conservation Sector of the Parks of the Duchy.

The first appointment is Friday 09 June 2023 from 19.30 to 20.30 with meeting in front of the Town Hall of Collecchio in Viale Libertà, 3.

The second appointment is Friday 16 June 2023 from 19.30 to 20.30 with meeting in front of the Town Hall of Fornovo Taro in Piazza Libertà, 11.

We will observe the Swifts in flight, listen to the songs and discover how to preserve them with simple tricks to our buildings and many curiosities about the species present in our area.
