Rocca and Castello are the stronghold of the most important village in the valley, an ancient property (XIII century) of the Scotti, who still today, with Princess Luisa Gonzaga Anguissola Scotti, hold the domain.

The Rocca, accessible through two opposite flights of stairs, overlooks a courtyard of great beauty and represents a happy synthesis between the austerity of medieval defensive architecture and the elegance of the stately home of the Renaissance.

The castle, adapted at the end of the eighteenth century into a quiet noble residence, is furnished with period furniture and houses elegant pictorial decorations and precious frescoes.

The fortress and the castle of Agazzano are still privately owned and belong to the same family (which over the centuries has been subject to expansion) from the origins and that is from the end of 1200. Dating back to this period are the documents relating to Giovanni Scoto great landowner who made Agazzano the center of his properties.

The Scotti family (from Scotus) will maintain the dominion over Agazzano until the mid-1700s when Ranuccio Scotti leaves three daughters as heirs.

The eldest daughter Margherita Maria, to whom the castle will go, is united in marriage with Girolamo Anguissola da Podenzano and, from this moment the family, Scotti will take the name of Anguissola Scotti. As evidence of the union of the two families we have the fusion in the same coat of arms of elements of the Scotti coat of arms (the stars) with the element of the eel deriving from the Anguissola coat of arms.

Currently the owner is Prince Corrado Gonzaga son of Luisa Anguissola Scotti who was united in marriage with Prince Ferrante Gonzaga.

The Gonzaga family had already been related to the Scotti family at the end of 1400 when Giovanni Scotti married Luigia Gonzaga Da Novellara. Even today inside the fortress are found next to the Scotti coats of arms also the Gonzaga coats of arms (whose characteristic is an eagle).

The peculiarity of this beautiful architectural complex lies in its constitution. Next to a fortress born in 1200 with a purely military function (round corner towers, drawbridge, keep with ravelin) and equipped in 1475 with a beautiful loggia wanted by Luigia Gonzaga, we find an eighteenth-century villa that was originally the village of the Rocca.

The halls of the villa are decorated on the walls with beautiful tempera and furnished with furniture ranging from 1600 to 1800. Of great value are the beautiful ceramics and porcelain.

Even the garden with the French cut and equipped with statues and fountain was born at the end of 1700; Luigi Villoresi, who was director of the Park of the Royal Villa of Monza, also participated in his design.

Born as a defensive fortress, the Rocca di Agazzano, founded its origins in 1200 and was enriched in 1475 with a beautiful loggia that softened its military aspect.

The plan is rectangular with round towers and ravelin. Inside, in addition to the loggia with sandstone columns with coat of arms capitals, there are large halls, private apartments with fireplaces of the time, kitchens and military housing.

Adjacent to the military fortress stands the eighteenth-century villa, built on the ancient village, with frescoes and a characteristic courtyard with a porch. The belonging of the Castle of Agazzano to a single family since the beginning and the maintenance of the structure in its medieval and Renaissance aspects make this property a suggestive and rare example of history, traditions and culture.
