Historical Origins
The mushroom has been known to man for a long time: the first representation of this product appears in a surviving fresco of Pompeian ruins; moreover, that the ancient Romans had knowledge of mushrooms and appreciated them as a delicacy, is documented even by the name of one of the most precious of them: the Amanita Caesarea (ie dedicated to Caesar), or good egg.
