Appenninica MTB Stage Race is a mountain bike stage race that takes place in 7 consecutive days along the ridge of the Apennine chain.
The appointment for the fourth edition from 4 to 10 September 2022.
One of the most prestigious events in the panorama of Italian mountain biking, is a great success among athletes and professionals also at international level.
The race course winds from the highest mountains in the province of Bologna and Modena (Corno alle Scale and Monte Cimone) to arrive, following a path at high altitude, to Cerreto Laghi located near the Cerreto Pass, on the border with Tuscany, and then descend towards Castelnovo ne’ Monti, in the province of Reggio Emilia.
From a naturalistic point of view, the route will cross parks and forests embellished with mountain lakes, involve river crossings and the paths on the ridge will satisfy the fatigue with magnificent views of the mountains. Inevitable will be the chestnut forests (some centenarians) and beech forests.
The 150 riders will cover about 450 km for a total difference in height of approximately 16,000 meters. Only after crossing the finish line of the last km will the participants be able to wear the coveted finisher medal.
