The festival that wants to commemorate May 24, 1944, the day on which the partisans under the command of Wladimiro Bersani liberated Morfasso, giving life to the first “partisan republic” in Italy. The Museum of the Piacenza Resistance, ANPI Section – Lugagnano / Alta Val d’Arda and Coop Infrangibile organize 3 days of events.

Saturday 23 May, 6 pm at the Museum of the Piacenza Resistance, Sperongia di Morfasso
Partisan self-government in the “Free Zones” of Emilia Romagna (1944-45): an initiative of historical study on the “Partisan Republics” in our region, with a comparison between the Piacenza experience and one of the most celebrated and studied among the Italian Free Zones: the “Republic of Montefiorino”.
Speakers:
Iara Meloni – From the first liberated municipality to the large Free Zones of the Piacenza Apennines.
Chiara Asti – The “Republic of Montefiorino” between myth and reality.
Followed by Aperitif in music with “Amara Terra”.
The path of John the Slav
Sunday 24 May in Settesorelle di Vernasca
Guided excursion on the “Path of John the Slav”, the first route traced by Franco Sorenti that gave rise to the network of “Paths of Freedom”. An excursion through the woods that border the Arda to the panoramic point of the “Rocca dei Casali”, in the places where in 1943 the Resistance took its first steps.
11 Km – 4.5 hours net of stops – medium difficulty – elevation gain 650 meters
At the end guided tour of the Museum of the Piacenza Resistance.
