This year the month of December will be full of events in Corniglio (PR) As every year on December 8th the traditional Festa della Spongata will be celebrated, but it will not be the only initiative of the month.
In fact, the Municipality of Corniglio, in collaboration with the Cooperative 100 Lakes and the contribution of the National Park Appennino Tosco Emiliano and the Management Authority for Parks and Biodiversity – Western Emilia (Parks of the Duchy), will organize a series of initiatives dedicated to our good food and our traditions.

The event, CORNIGLIO GASTRONOMICO, which focuses on the culinary tradition of the Apennines, will deal with the following topics:
SAPORI D’APPENNINO – Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 December
Two days dedicated to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, to learn about and discover products and producers of Lunigiana, Garfagnana, Reggio Emilia and Parma. Many realities separated geographically but united by a strong feeling of belonging and love for the mountains. Mushrooms and honey will be the protagonists of events and workshops.
Two days dedicated to the Tuscan-Emilian Apennines National Park, to learn about and discover products and producers of Lunigiana, Garfagnana, Reggio Emilia and Parma. In Corniglio Christmas coincides with the preparation of this dessert as ancient as it is tasty.
The original recipe is lost in the history preserved and handed down for generations. Every family has its own… So why not taste them all at the most delicious race of the year? Waiting for the second edition of the twinning festival of the three breeds of sheep Lamon, Cornigliese and Rosset, the delegations of the Municipalities of Corniglio, Lamon and Valgrisenche will meet to remember the importance of safeguarding native breeds from extinction. The shepherds will be the protagonists of the weekend, with their artifacts and demonstrations on wool processing.

THE QUEEN OF AUTUMN, THE CHESTNUT – Saturday 17 and Sunday 18 December
The chestnut, a source of support for the harsh winter months, has a special place in the hearts of mountain people. But how was chestnut prepared and used in the past and how is it cooked today?
Show Cooking in the square with chef Simone Finetti and guided tour in the chestnut groves of the territory with demonstration of how the dryer works.
During the days there will be workshops and events, it will also be possible to taste thematic menus at local restaurants.
