Bobbio Film Festival

Emilia_Bobbio_Film_Festival

The initiative began in 1995 thanks to an idea of the director Marco Bellocchio, a native of the Emilian village and awarded the Palme d’Or for Lifetime Achievement last July 16 during the 74th Cannes Film Festival.

The festival that includes screenings of films open to the public Bellocchio alongside a course “Fare Cinema” aimed at young and future filmmakers.
The valuable element of this important film festival lies in the after-screening, when the master Bellocchio, sometimes together with a film critic, meets the director and the actors of the film in a participatory dialogue with the public.
Growing more and more in importance, in 2005 the event changed its name and officially became Bobbio Film Festival.

In such a long period of time there are many actors and directors who have taken part in the Bobbio festival to present their film, or debate on some themes touched by the various films: from the director of the Venice Film Festival Marco Müller to the critics Morando Morandini and Tatti Sanguineti; from directors Mario Monicelli, Abel Ferrara, Zhang Yuan, to Carlo Verdone, Paolo Sorrentino, Matteo Garrone. Among the actors stand out the names of Stefania Sandrelli, Valeria Golino, Sergio Castellitto, Isabella Ferrari, Donatella Finocchiaro, Corrado Guzzanti, Elio Germano and Riccardo Scamarcio.

The screenings will take place in the cloister of the Abbey of S. Colombano.
