On April 22nd inauguration of the new Campo Pianelli Archaeological Park in Castelnovo ne’ Monti, the most important area of the Reggio Apennines, and one of the most important in the province, as regards the Bronze Age.
From 9.15 am initial inauguration at the Laudato Sì alla Pietra center in Bismantova, to illustrate the characteristics of the Archaeological Park.
Then we will move to the Campo Pianelli area for the actual inauguration: from Piazzale Dante alla Pietra a walk of about 40 minutes will start to the archaeological park (comfortable clothes and hiking shoes are recommended). Alternatively, it will be possible to park your car in Piazzale Vittime di Roncroffio in the center of Castelnovo, and then walk up along Via Comici to Casa Pattino, arriving in about 20 minutes at the park. For those who have difficulties that do not allow them to support the walk, an accompanying service will be made available to Casa Pattino, which is a few meters away from the Archaeological Park.
In the afternoon, at 3 pm there will be a demonstration of the ancient techniques of metal processing and decoration by the goldsmith Gianmaria Donini (at the Laudato Si Center) and at 4.30 pm a guided excursion to the archaeological park (reservations required in archeotrekking@archeovea.it, 340 1939057). Then, after the opening day, the excursions will be bookable every weekend: info on the facebook page Archeotrekking Pietra di Bismantova.
